About This Service

SilverOak Health's Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics service provides evidence-based nutritional assessment and therapeutic dietary intervention across all clinical specialties. Our team of registered dietitians and nutritionists works in partnership with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to address malnutrition, optimise metabolic health, and support recovery in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical nutrition services include nutritional screening and assessment using validated tools (MUST, SGA), enteral and parenteral nutrition support for patients unable to meet nutritional needs orally, and specialised dietary management of conditions including renal disease, liver disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, phenylketonuria, and inborn errors of metabolism. Our dietitians collaborate with the palliative care team to address the nutritional challenges and ethical considerations unique to end-of-life care, always prioritising patient comfort and autonomy. Outpatient dietetic services provide individualised nutritional counselling for weight management, cardiovascular risk reduction, diabetes prevention and management, eating disorders, food allergy and intolerance management, and sports nutrition. Group education programmes including diabetes nutrition workshops and heart-healthy eating courses extend the reach of dietetic expertise to a broader patient and community audience. All dietary advice is evidence-based, practically achievable, and tailored to the patient's food culture, lifestyle, and personal preferences — because the best dietary intervention is one the patient can sustain for life.
